How to make sangria at home - 8 recipes

Sangria is one of the traditional Spanish drinks. It can be called a business card of Spain. Every tourist, visiting Spain, seeks to try sangria. To enjoy the refreshing taste of the drink, you do not need to go to Spain - it is easy to prepare it at home.

What is needed to make sangria

Over the centuries-old history of sangria, many recipes have arisen. A classic drink made from red wine, diluted with water and citrus. There is no single recipe for sangria. Each Spanish family prepares it in its own way.

Sangria at home can be made not only from red, but also from white wine or even champagne. Some add soda, soda, liquor or juice to the drink. As sweeteners do not use sugar, but honey, the taste is enriched with spices or aromatic herbs.

After experiments with the composition and ingredients, there were many options for sangria that differ in taste. There are 5 types of drink:

  • Silent sangria - this is as close as possible to the classic recipe drink. It is made from red wine. The recipe includes citrus fruits, and the remaining ingredients are added to taste.
  • White sangria - the basis for the preparation is a white wine, other components do not change.
  • Fruit Sangria - distinguished by a variety of fruits. In addition to citrus fruits, pineapples, apples, bananas, grapes, peaches and strawberries can be added.
  • Strong sangria - a distinctive feature of the drink is the fortress, it can reach 18 degrees. Pieces of fruit are first poured with strong alcohol, incubated for 12 hours, and then water and wine are added.
  • Sparkling Sangria - The basis is champagne, soda or unsalted mineral water.

Whatever wine you dilute with water and enrich its taste with additional ingredients, you will get sangria. We will understand what ingredients for a drink is better to use.

Wine. For sangria, any wine will do. It is better to choose an inexpensive, but high-quality, proven brands. You can use and expensive, but its taste and hide the aroma of fruit. The ideal choice would be the usual red dry table wine, and for white sangria - white dry. In sangria, wine should not dominate, it is diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio. An exception may be strong sangria: water can be taken twice as less.

Water. Sangria is worth cooking on quality water. The one that flows from the tap will not work. Try to use spring, bottled or filtered. For sparkling sangria, you can take mineral water, but this water should not be too acidic, saline or alkaline. It can be replaced by tonic or plain carbonated water.

Fruits. Fruits will suit almost everything - pears, citrus fruits, bananas, plums, pineapples and apples, but some can quickly oxidize or deteriorate. Apples, peaches and citrus fruits are considered the best fruits for sangria. Berries, strawberries and cherries are often added as well. All products can be combined to create different drinks to taste.

Sweeteners. Use honey or sugar. In what quantities add sweeteners is difficult to say, it depends on taste preferences. You can do without them, for example, when the fruits with which you prepare the drink are quite sweet.

Spice. Spices can be used to enrich the taste and flavor. Fresh spices are good, especially mint and ginger. Cinnamon will add spicy notes, and the accent will give a clove. Nutmeg will give the drink a mystery.

Strong alcohol. Add them optional. If you want to make sangria stronger, you can use rum, brandy or whiskey. Sometimes gin, liqueur or vodka is added to a drink.

Immediately after cooking, sangria cannot be drunk, as the fruit will not give the drink its taste and aroma. Try to cook it at least 12 hours before serving. It is recommended to serve sangria in a large glass jug, preferably with ice. You can put a large wooden spoon in the jar. With it, you can easily catch fruit from the drink.

Home Sangria Recipe

As mentioned earlier, there are many options for making sangria. Consider a few of them.

Classic Sangria

Preparing homemade sangria for a classic recipe is very simple. Mix a bottle of dry red wine with the same volume of water and pour 1 spoon of sugar into the liquid. Cut into slices a couple of oranges and lemon, add to the diluted wine. Drink in the fridge for 12 hours.

White sangria with peaches

Sangria, the photo of which is located above, is made from white wine. Try to pick a light drink that has a fruity flavor, such as riesling or pinot grigio. You will need 1/4 cup of floral or fruit liqueur, water and sugar, a handful of a mixture of fresh herbs - lemon thyme, verbena, lemon basil, lemon balm and mint, as well as three peaches.

Cooking:

Leave the peaches brewed at room temperature for a day. In a small saucepan, put water, herbs and sugar, bring the mass to a boil over low heat, then let it cool under a closed lid. You can even leave the mixture overnight, so it will infuse even better.

Cut the peaches, put them in a jug, pour in the wine, add the herbal syrup and liqueur.

Mixture put in the refrigerator for at least a day. During this time, the peaches will darken. To make the cocktail look attractive, when serving, replace them with fresh ones.


Sparkling Sangria

The easiest way to prepare sparkling sangria is to mix the wine not with water, but with fanta. In this case, you will not get an exquisite drink, it will only resemble a real sparkling sangria. To make a good cocktail, you should use white sparkling wine. Almost always complement it with grapefruit. The remaining ingredients can be selected as desired. Sparkling sangria will turn out when using soda. To start, make a drink according to any recipe, without diluting the wine with water. When it is infused, add soda and serve immediately.

You will need 1 l. red semi-sweet wine, a couple of apples, plums and peaches, 1 lemon, orange and pear, a bottle of sparkling water, 3 grains of cardamom, cinnamon stick, 5 pieces of cloves and as much allspice.


Cooking:

Cut the fruit: citrus fruits into half rings, the rest into small slices. Put the fruit pieces in a suitable container, add spices to them, pour them with wine and refrigerate for 4 hours.

Before serving, fill the sangria with 2/3 glass, put ice and pour a soda to fill the container.

Fruit Sangria

Drink provides an opportunity to dream. Preparing it, you can combine different berries and fruits: the more they will be, the better.

For the preparation of 2 servings 300 ml is enough. dry red wine. You also need the same volume or slightly less soda or water, 45 ml. orange liqueur, 1/2 lime, apple and orange, a few slices of lemon, 25 ml. brandy, sugar or honey to taste.

Cooking:

Wash all fruits. Cut the citrus into slices, cut the bones from the apples, cut them into small slices, and then divide the lobules into several pieces.


Put the fruit in the carafe, add the rest of the ingredients there too. Be sure to send the mixture to the fridge for 12 hours.


Sangria with lemon

Required Ingredients:

  • dry red wine - bottle;
  • water - 2 cups;
  • brandy - 50 ml .;
  • honey - 1 tbsp.
  • sugar - 2 tbsp .;
  • lemon, orange, pear, apricot, apple, peach - 1 pc .;
  • cinnamon stick;
  • Carnation - 4 pcs.

Wash all the fruit, remove from the pears, peaches, apples and apricot pits and cut into slices. Orange, without peeling, cut into slices, cut a couple of circles from a lemon.

Wine mix with nonsense, honey and water. All fruits, as well as cloves and cinnamon, fold in a suitable container, sprinkle with sugar, pour the wine mixture.

Cover the container with a lid and send the wine in the fridge for a day.

Nonalcoholic sangria

Normal, classic sangria, has small degrees, so children and people suffering from certain diseases, it can not be used. For them, you can prepare a non-alcoholic analogue of the drink. For this, the wine must be replaced with juice. Such sangria will come out not only harmless, but also useful.

You will need 3 glasses of grape and apple juice, 1 glass of orange juice, 1 spoon of lemon juice, 1 lime, an apple, plum, lemon and orange, and 2 glasses of mineral water.

Cooking:

Slice the fruit, place it in a suitable container and fill it with juices. Put the mixture in the refrigerator for 3 hours. When serving, add mineral water to the drink and mix.


Nonalcoholic sangria with cranberries

You will need 2 cups of cranberry and grape juice, 4 cups of mineral water, 1 cup of orange juice, 1/2 cup of lemon juice, 2 cups of cranberries, 1 lime, orange and lemon, and a bunch of fresh mint.

Cooking:

Cut the citrus fruits and chop them in a blender. In a blender, add cranberries and juices, and mix. Crush the mint with your hands and put it in a drink. For several hours, put in the fridge. Before serving, dilute the drink with mineral water and decorate with fruit slices and mint leaves.

Non-alcoholic tea-based sangria

The drink has a sour-astringent pleasant taste and refreshes, like real sangria. Making a cocktail takes you some time. You will need 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 liter of pomegranate juice, cinnamon stick, 2 tbsp. black tea, 1 apple, orange and lemon.

Cooking:

Citrus cut into slices, apples - slices.

Put in a cup of tea, cinnamon, sugar, pour them with boiling water. Leave for 5 minutes. Pour the juice into a suitable container, dip the fruit into it and add filtered tea.


Drink send a few hours in the refrigerator. Before serving, dilute it with chilled mineral water and decorate.
